Nano Flow Sensor Mount

Problem:

At Coravin, the Vinitas machine fractionalizes wine into single serve sample bottles. A flow sensor was being added to increase reliability and tolerance of the pours. Vinitas has already had its design finalized and is with wineries and vineyards all over the world. This flow sensor needed to be retrofitted into all machines currently in use and be put in to all new machines.

Action:

Design and test a way for the flow sensor to be incorporated into Vinitas

• Multiple flow sensor mounts created using Creo

  • Found different orientations gave different results​

• Used mounting features already in the machine

• Seamlessly incorporated mount into wine path tubing

• Mount fit in both of the Vinitas designs

Result:

A mount was created that fit both VInitas designs and was able to inserted with no additional hardware or reworking. The mount was put in line with the current tubing in the machine allowing for no changes to be necessary. Testing the flow sensor in a timely manner was crucial as it needed to be added to the new electronics board which was being finalized. The final iteration is still in use and aids in future development.
