Shark Garage Door Prototype
Problem:
Shark was creating a carpet extractor that has now been released and needed what is called a 'garage door'. It is called the garage door because it comes over the brush roll and closes what is inside. There was a competitor's product that had amazing results. We wanted to recreate the competitors garage door and analyze the flow path and different aspects to see why it had such outstanding performance.

Action:
Created a functional CAD model that was:
-
Created in SolidWorks
-
Used surfacing, lofts, and sweeps
-
Made parametrically for easy updates
-
Iterated upon to make more accurate to competitors
-
3D printed into a working model
Result:
I recreated the competitors garage door in SolidWorks. We were able to use my 3D print on the competitors product and tweak different aspects to see what made it work so well. By being able to change the garage door different variables could be isolated to see what changes helped or hurt performance.
